As a sub brand of Fender Guitars, Squier has the role of the introductory brand to Fender catalog. It is a similar relationship to what Gibson and Epiphone have. Squier`s catalog is oriented towards beginners and younger players and offers a wide range of both guitars and basses. Also, Squier has a Signature Artist series which is shared with Fender. The rest of the Squier range is filled with affordable variants of the upscale Fender models. For the summer 2013, Squier and Fender are renewing the famous Vintage Modified series with a multitude of new four, five and even six-stringed basses. One of them is Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '77. It comes with a solid and double-cut body made of soft maple. It`s paired with a bolted maple neck. On top of the body, Squier installs a pair of single-coil pickups. These are Fender-Designed Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickups. These are standard for the entire series. Maple neck is fit with a standard C contour in the back and a 20-fret maple fingerboard on the top. 9.50" radius, 1.50" wide synthetic bone nut, 20 medium jumbo-sized frets and block inlays complete the fingerboard. The MSRP for this model is set at $499.99.
