Steve Bailey, the legend and the pioneer of fretless six string bass gets an artist series of models made in Korea. Korean Pro basses represent the middle stage between entry level Rockbass models made in China and top-of-the-line Warwicks made in Germany. Not only price-wise, but also regarding materials and features these Pro series basses come in between and offer intermediate solution. Steve Bailey Artist Series 4 comes with a solid, double cutaway body made of swamp ash. In combination with an ovangkol neck, this makes for a rock-solid foundation for virtually any kind of music a player desires to explore. Body is flat-top and equipped with a white plastic pickguard. There are no top woods or bindings. Steve Bailey models only come in black color with gloss finish. The ovangkol neck is bolted to the body and topped with a tigerstripe ebony fingerboard. 24 frets and Just A Nut III string nut complete the fingerboard. 34" long scale on this bass starts at the Warwick two-piece bridge with four saddles and chrome plating. Pickup combo is laid out in a J/J pattern with a couple of active Seymour Duncan single coils. Active Seymour Duncan electronics feature two stacked knobs.. One has volume and balance with push-pull slap reset, while the other one has treble and bass with push-pull for mute.
