Excel Electric Guitars by D`Angelico Guitars
Excel EXL-1 is one of the original D`Angelico archtops, designed by John D`Angelico. Today`s EXL-1 incarnation is one of the main models of the electric side of the catalog and a supremely versatile jazz box. Wide color palette, gold-plated hardware and distinct D`Angelico styling make this axe stand out.
Excel EXL-1 starts off with laminated flamed maple back & sides, solid spruce sound board (7-ply binding around the edges, Stairstep pickguard, bound "f" holes), maple/walnut neck (3-piece neck, set-in joint, C profile) and 22-fret rosewood fingerboard (medium jumbo frets, block inlays, 1-11/16" bone nut, 25" scale).
Main hardware and electronics appointments include a rosewood bridge (Stairstep tailpiece), Kent Armstrong floating minibucker in the neck position and Grover tuners.
