Dean`s Thoroughbred is a traditional single-cut solidbody, made primarily for rock and metal players. Its lineup ranges from beginner class to boutique level (some of the one-off Dean Custom Run models were based on the popular Thoroughbred concept). New 2018 lineup brings a pair of thoroughbreds - USA class Thoroughbred Plain Top Floyd and the affordable Thoroughbred X FM. The inexpensive Flame Top model will be available in Trans Red and Trans Brazilia color schemes, both with MSRPs set at $599. Main features of the new Thoroughbred X FM include a solid and single-cut basswood body (w/white binding, two-piece flame maple top), bolt-on neck made of maple, a 22-fret jatoba fingerboard (block inlays, 24.75" scale, 1.6875" nut), a two-piece hardtail bridge, DMT Design humbuckers, and sealed die-cast tuners.
