AJ-7 is the second model in Andy James signature series. Basically, it is the AJ-1, bu with an extra string and seven-string pickups. This amazing "not and LTD, not an ESP" LTD signature comes with a super simple set of specs and features, and epic tone. Solid and double-cut body of this model is made of mahogany wings and maple neck which runs through it. Despite the carved top, there is no separate top, it`s all mahogany on the sides and maple in the middle. Classic body contour is taken over from the MH series, the one Andy used to play a lot prior to the inception of the AJ-1. AJ-7 features a single-piece fixed tune-o-matic bridge with strings running through the body behind it. EMG`s 57-7 and 66-7 are featured in the pickups department. These two give a very specific tone where the 57 acts as the sonic mixture of the classic 81 and 85 (Andy used to use 85 in the bridge position a lot in the past) with all the power and definition, and 66 appears like a slightly hotter 60, giving the AJ-7 smooth and creamy lead tones. One volume knob and a three-way pickup switch comprise the controls unit. Slim maple neck features the standard U profile, now adjusted for the 48mm wide string nut. Bound rosewood fingerboard on the top has 24 extra jumbo frets with thumbnail inlays and the custom Andy James inlay at the 12th fret. LTD`s locking tuners are featured on the headstock of this "not an LTD< not an ESP" Andy James LTD signature.
