EX is, as its name suggests, a variation on the timeless Explorer theme. ESP`s Explorer has been so successful back in the `80s and `90s, that it almost eclipsed the Gibson/Epiphone original. The boom in EX`s popularity is largely owed to James Hetfield of Metallica and his iconic "EET FUK" ESP EX. Today, some thirty years later, EX is still going strong and has new and fresh models for 2016. EX-401 is the basic 400 tier EX with active electronics, set-thru neck and combined ESP/Grover hardware. Snow White and Black options are available.
EX-401 kicks of with a solid and single-cut body made entirely of mahogany. Beveled top, pronounced lower horn which allows easy access to the upper frets and set-thru neck joint characterize the latest EX generation. The neck is made of three pieces of maple and is equipped with a classic Thin U profile in the back. Rosewood fingerboard on its top has 22 XJ frets, 1.65" molded nut, abalone dot inlays and 13.77" radius.
EMG 81 in the bridge and 60 in the neck are ready for the heaviest, nastiest riffs and fastest solos you`ve got. Simple controls unit features master volume, master tone and a three-way switch. Tune-o-matic bridge w/stoptail bar and Grover tuners complete this warhorse six-string.
