EX is among the most popular and recognizable ESP series. Its models fill the ESP and LTD catalogs alike, and aim to offer the classic heavy metal no-frills, no-filler experience. Usually, EX guitars come with a simple design, simple hardware and electronics options and top-notch build and playing qualities. In recent years, ESP and LTD catalogs have featured some of the best Explorer-shaped guitars ever made, almost blowing the Epiphone/Gibson original out of the water. EX-401FR is one of two 2016 updates for the LTD EX series. Active electronics, Floyd Rose bridge, short 24-3/4" scale and classic EX construction and design guarantee long years of faithful service.
EX-401FR starts off with a solid and beveled mahogany body. The body (and the headstock) come in two variants - Black and Snow White (both finished in gloss and countered with black hardware). The neck is made of maple (three pieces) and is topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard (dot inlays, 1.65" molded nut and 13.77" radius).
Just like its hardtail sibling, EX-401FR has EMG`s 81 in the bridge position and 60 in the neck. Controls unit also remained unchanged, featuring one volume, one tone and a three-way switch. Floyd Rose Special bridge and Grover tuners wrap the specs list up.
