Horizon is ESP`s series of Soloist shaped guitars made primarily for guitarists oriented towards shredding and extreme metal sub-genres. 2012 brings new color options for Horizon FR, the basic Floyd Rose equipped model of the Horizon Series. To sart off, Horizon FR for 2012 has a solid, double cutaway body made of ash back and maple top. The top is carved and bound in white on both color options. Volcano red nad mystic black both come with gloss finish and black nickel hardware. There are no pickguards for any of the Horizon FR`s color options. The bridge is an original Floyd Rose double locking tremolo with black nickel plating and locking string nut. In the pickups department, EMG rules the scene with 81 active humbucker in the bridge and 85 in the neck position. This is considered one of the ultimate active pickup combos ever made, and controls include master tone, master volume and a three-way toggle switch. The neck is made of maple, and it features a thin U contour with a neck-through-body construction. This allows for a very fast and slim neck with an advanced heel design. The fingerboard is made of ebony and it features 24 extra jumbo frets with offset rectangle inlays.
