As it`s name says, Horizon series pushes forward, races towards the horizon of excellence and ultimate shred machine. The next step is a 27-fret monster with Seymour Duncan power plants and Floyd Rose bridge. This is a completely new model for 2012 and it was introduced at the NAMM Show this year. Horizon FR-27 starts off with a solid, double cutaway body made of alder. The top is carved, even though it does not feature any kind of top wood. Nevertheless, binding is still there, white colored to be precise. And Horizon FR-27 comes only in black with glossy finish. The bridge is original Floyd Rose double locking tremolo with a locking string nut. It is plated in black nickel. Due to extra frets, pickup department had to give up some space, but the power is still there. Bridge position features Seymour Duncan Custom 5 passive humbucker, and the neck position is filled with a slanted Seymour Duncan Hot Rails humbucker. They are controlled through master volume, master tone with push-pull switch for coil splitting and a three-position blade switch. The neck is made of maple with thin U contour and neck-through construction. The fingerboard is made of ebony and it sports fantastic 27 extra jumbo sized frets. Frets from 12 and upwards are scalloped. Also, there are dot inlays and 1.65" wide string nut. Gotoh tuners and 25-1/2" scale complete the specs.
