Along with several other models, ESP is also introducing the mesmerizing LTD EC-1000 Koa at 2015 Summer NAMM Show in Memphis, Tennessee. This is a regular 1000 tier EC guitar with six-string construction and subdued styling. The only thing which sets this stripped down EC from the rest of its LTD brethren is the beautiful koa top. Glossy finish, discreet black binding around the edges and black hardware on the top, make this rocker very desirable. Beneath the top, EC-1000 Koa features a mahogany base. All the warmth and strength of mahogany are being retained, with koa adding a bit of clarity and definition into the mix. Five-piece mahogany/bubinga neck is set in a bit deeper than usual (the so-called set-through joint). A 24-fret fingerboard made of ebony is installed on its top. Extra jumbo-sized frets, 1.65" width at the nut and the slim U profile of the neck feel supremely fast and comfortable. Pickups are provided by Seymour Duncan. SH-14 is in the bridge, while the SH-2 is in the neck position. These proven and battle-hardened warriors are among the finest passive pickups out there. Their fields of specialty are metal and hard rock. Softer styles and tones, though achievable, are not their forte. Two-piece bridge unit and locking LTD tuning machines wrap the specs list.
