Back in 1950, the Esquire model made its debut on the market. It was the first commercially available solid-bodied guitar. In 1951, the Broadcaster - a two-pickup version of the Esquire - was introduced. For a short period of time (due to legal issues) it was made and sold as Nocaster. And finally, in 1952, Broadcaster got its classic name - Telecaster, by which its still known today. Six and a half decades of history, countless albums and countless concerts which defined modern and contemporary music, and Telecaster is still going strong. Possibly, stronger than ever.
As 2015 is nearing its end, Fender introduces the ninth model of the ten-piece 10 for `15 series - the mind-blowing Limited Edition American Vintage `52 Telecaster Korina. It is an American Vintage class instrument and Fender`s luthiers have taken full advantage of that fact to give us true 1952 (the first full production year of Telecaster) experience.
The body of this sweet little rocker is made of korina instead of alder (back in the day, swamp ash and korina ruled the solid guitar scene). It comes in what Fender has dubbed Blackguard Blonde - the classic Blonde finish with a black pickguard on top. The neck is bolted to the body and made of maple (Leo Fender and his luthiers picked maple for the necks for its durability and ease with which it could be processed). It rocks the U contour in the back and a 21-fret maple fingerboard on top (7.25" radius, 25-1/2" scale, 1.65" nut, black dot inlays and period correct frets).
Electronics department features the classic S/S combination of pickups with a slanted bridge pickup. Both pickups are American Vintage `52 Tele single-coils. Master volume, master tone and a three-position blade switch comprise their controls unit. Together with the korina-maple base, these pickups act as a time machine bringing the spirit of the early fifties into the twenty-first century. Classic string-through tray bridge and vintage tuners complete the specs list.
