One of the masterminds behind this otherworldly mashup is Edge, U2`s sole permanent guitarist. Over the years, he`s used a huge variety of guitars, mostly of Gibson and Fender brands. Three Strats, one 1968 model and a pair of 1973 models are Edge`s main choices for the softer, atmospheric pieces. Fender`s 2016 The Edge Strat is based on Edge`s favorite, 1973 Strat he bought many years ago, which came with an already built in DiMarzio FS-1 bridge pickup. The Edge Strat is a classic, black-clad Strat guitar with a big 70`s headstock, modern hardware and combined DiMarzio/Fender electronics. It kicks off with a standard chassis made of a flat-top alder body and a bolt-on maple neck. The neck is equipped with a modern C profile in the back and a 21-fret maple fingerboard on top. 9.5" radius, 1.685" nut and black dot inlays complete the fingerboard. DiMarzio`s FS-1 bridge pickup and a pair of Custom Stagger Fat 50`s pickups comprise the pickups combo. They come with a standard Strat controls unit. Modern two-point synchronized tremolo bridge and Fender tuners complete the specs list. Retail price is around $1,800, which is an average price range for Fender`s Strat signatures.
