Vintage Hot Rod is an interesting series. It offers vintage-styled guitars with hot rodded tone and a slightly modified list of features. Of course, there are many historically accurate features, as the models from this series are all dedicated to certain decades and eras in Fender history. For example, some feature big headstocks, aged plastics, vintage bridges and tuning machines. Modifications are mostly made in the electronics department, where custom combinations of pickups are installed. Body of this model is solid, double-cut and made of alder (alder is the standard tonewood in Fender catalog since the mid 1950s, when it replaced ash). It is flat on top and , traditionally, contoured in the back. On it`s top, there is a six-saddled tremolo bridge with string-through construction and chrome plating (tuners on the headstock, neck plate and output jack cover are also plated in chrome). In the front, there are three single-coil pickups with standard set of volume and tone knobs (master volume has the S-1 switch which, when activated, adds bridge pickup to 3, 4 and 5 positions). 1960s C contour is featured on the maple neck. 21-fret rosewood fingerboard has medium jumbo frets, 1.65" bone nut and dot inlays.
