Though sometimes overshadowed by 1957 and 1959 models, 1958 LP is, actually, the LP for many of the fans and players of the world`s greatest single-cut electric guitar. It featured the cult PAF pickups, as well as slightly improved playability and construction (when compared to the 1957 Standard, Goldtop and Custom models). Also, it marked the birth of the now staple feature, sunburst color scheme (up to that point, all of the LP models where solid-colored). Today, in 2015, Gibson Custom reprises the `58 LP Standard. Reconstructed with the help of the latest technology, SC8 50s Style Les Paul Standard VOS is one of the most accurate replicas of the 1958 LP Standard ever created. It comes with a solid and single-cut mahogany body. It is a one--piece body without the weight relief (back in the late 1950s, LPs were notorious for their back and shoulder injuring abilities, and Gibson has decided to respect that tradition on the 2015 replica model). One-piece mahogany body is topped with a creme-bound flamed maple top. It is a classic two-piece top with nitrocellulose lacquer finish and a white pickguard (removable for the barren top lovers). Set of mind-blowing Custom Bucker pickups bends the time/space continuum, and bring the 1958 back again. One-piece mahogany neck rocks the classic 1958 contour, as well as a 22-fret fingerboard made of Indian rosewood. Set of reissue Kluson tuners wraps up this brief overview. The MSRP is set at $5,199, leaving this beauty out of the reach for many a players out there.
