The original Gibson Les Paul Custom was introduced in 1954, two years after the Goldtop made its debut. The first Custom had a two-piece bridge, two P-90 pickups, black body & neck, and gold-plated hardware. After 1957, Custom models have mostly been available with 2 or 3 humbucking pickups. Les Paul Custom 2017 is a Limited Run model made by Gibson Custom. It costs the standard $3,999 (signature LP models can fetch up to $15,000-$20,000) and offers the genuine Les Paul Custom experience. Five color options are available, with classic Ebony/Gold being excluded. Core construction features include a solid mahogany body (w/weight relief), 2-piece plain maple top, solid mahogany neck, 22-fret richlite fingerboard, tune-o-matic/stoptail bridge, 498/490 pickups, and Kidney Grover tuners.
