The legendary Explorer made its debut back in the late 1950`s as part of a three-model Moderne series. Initially, it was a huge flop, but it was reintroduced in 1976 and is still the most popular hard rock/metal guitar in the world. Explorer Custom is a Limited Run model and one of the finest, most exclusive Explorers ever built. It costs $3,799 and offers a flat-top body, set-in neck (24-3/4" scale), luxurious hardware, and Gibson Custom electronics. In Custom tier`s finest tradition, Explorer Custom is only available in Ebony (w/gold hardware). Key construction features include a solid mahogany body (multi-layered binding), solid mahogany neck (medium C profile), richlite fingerboard (22 frets, block inlays, 1.687" nut), two-piece hardtail bridge, 498T/490R pickups, and Grover Mini tuners.
