Paul Kossoff is one of the true greats of Les Paul classic tone both with Free and his solo works. Along with Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Peter Green and Jimmy Page, Kossoff is considered to be a player who shaped what we today know as rock music. Paul Kossoff 1959 Les Paul Standard comes from Gibson Custom with a body made of mahogany back and figured maple top. Aged creme binding is applied around top with both green lemon aged and green lemon VOS finishes. Both of these color options are finished in nitrocellulose lacquer. There are no pickguards available for this model. The bridge is a tune-o-matic with a stoptail bar combo with nickel plating. Pickups on this model are immaculate recreation of Paul`s original PAF over wound humbuckers. Both of the humbuckers feature Alnico III magnets and mismatched, potted coils of 42-AWG plain-enamel coated wire. They are controlled through a set of split volume and tone knobs. In addition to that, the pickup switch is a three-way toggle. The neck is made of mahogany with maple spleen and Paul Kossoff custom contour. Neck joint is, as it is tradition for Gibson, a mortise & tenon. Rosewood fingerboard features 22 medium jumbo frets, aged acrylic trapezoid inlays, 1.6875" wide corian nut and 12" radius. Other features include: 24-3/4" scale, nickel plated hardware and Grover Kidney tuners. The MSRP is set at $10,351 for green lemon VOS and $15,292 for green lemon aged.
