SG was first envisioned as te double-cut variant of the fading Les Paul, it had simpler construction and straightforward design. But, the time proved Gibson`s management wrong, as SG quickly gained popularity and became a separate model and an icon of the then-emerging hard rock and heavy metal music. SG Custom of today is a modern guitar with ultra powerful tone and sleek design. It comes with a solid mahogany body, which is paired with mahogany neck. Body is flat, double cut and has no top wood cover. Tune-o-matic/stoptail bridge combo is fronted by a triple humbucker treat with classic controls unit. Mahogany neck is set, fit with slim taper contour and topped with a 22-fret fingerboard made of ebony. Hardware is plated in gold.
