ES-335 is both the first and most successful semi-hollow guitar ever made. From jazz and blues to rock and hard rock, countless players have used and still use the legendary 335. 335 is also very popular in other forms and genres of music. In 2016 catalog, Gibson Memphis has introduced seven 335s - four modern and three historic models. Out of three historic models, 2016 1958 ES-335 VOS is the only recreation of the original 1958 model with dot inlays on the neck. 2016 1958 ES-335 VOS kicks off with a semi-hollow body with historically correct "Mickey Mouse ears" cutaway design used on the original 1958 335 guitar. Back, sides and top are made of three-ply maple/poplar/maple laminates. Center block is also made of maple, while the top bracing is made of Adirondack spruce. Mahogany neck is attached at 19th fret and consists of a single, solid piece of wood. Of course, it`s equipped with a historically correct C profile. Rosewood fingerboard features the iconic dot inlays has no binding (also a historical feature). MHS humbuckers feature slightly mismatched number of winds for that classic PAF tone many a guitarists crave and want. Two-piece bridge unit and classic Kluson tuners wrap the specs list. The price tag is set at $4,499, making it one of intermediately expensive models in Gibson Memphis 2016 catalog.
