2016 Gibson Memphis catalog features a couple of hybrid ES-Les Paul models. The less expensive one is ES-Les Paul Studio, it starts at $2,799. Not exactly what you`d call an affordable, budget-friendly guitar, but definitely the one which is worth every penny. 2016 ES-Les Paul Studio is a semi-hollow guitar with ES construction and Les Paul design. How does this cross-over function in reality? Well, imagine a semi-hollow ES shaped like a Les Paul. Back, sides, center block and the carved top are all made of maple. Back, sides and top are made of laminated maple and the center block is, of course, made of solid wood. Mahogany neck is glued to the body and rocks a classic C contour in the back. A 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays, corian nut and 12" radius sits on its top. Like its ES-335 and ES-339 siblings, ES-Les Paul Studio features a pair of `57 Classic pickups (Super `57 Classic in the bridge position). Standard Gibson set of controls is installed along them. Two-piece bridge is a top-load hardtail in nature and follows the Les Paul tradition (and Gibson/Epiphone tradition, in general). Vintage green-key tuners complete the specs list.
