ES-Les Paul for 2015 is an intermediate model in the year`s lineup (it is hard to place a guitar in the intermediate class with a price tag of $3,199, but when compared to the models with $5,000 or even $6,000, the "intermediate class" term springs naturally into mind). It masterfully combines two Gibson traditions - the solid Les Paul and semi hollow ES (ES stands for Electric Spanish). The way it worked out is that the classic Les Paul single-cut shaped body is fit with ES series` semi hollow construction. Selection of tonewoods is inherited from the ES side of the family, featuring the three-layered maple/poplar/maple laminates on the sides, back and the top. The top layer of the sound board is, of course, flamed maple instead of plain (used on the back and sides). AVR-2b bridge and the locking stoptail bar are featured on this 2015 model, as well (many Gibson Memphis models were updated with this bridge combo for 2015. MHS pickups provide that cult PAF humbucker tone, full of sustain and power. Classic Gibson controls unit is installed with them. Mahogany neck rocks the rounded C profile in the back and a dark rosewood fingerboard on top. 22 low profile frets, trapezoid inlays and 1.70" wide bone nut complete the fingerboard.
