Flying V is one of the, if not the most iconic guitar of heavy rock. Back in the 1950s, when it was introduced, it was too wild (Just like Explorer), but some twenty years later it became the symbol of rebellion and a modern culture icon. Today, after almost sixty years in existence, Flying V is still the ultimate axe. In order to celebrate 120 years in business, Gibson is releasing the 120 series and the limited edition Flying V History is one of the models found on the roster. Gibson USA has taken the original Flying V as the starting point and enhanced some of the key features. For example, the body is a bit thinner and the pickups combo is made up of Gibson`s most popular humbuckers (`57 Classics). Solid and flat-top body of this anniversary V is made of mahogany and is paired with a slim and fast mahogany neck (set in neck). Classic two-piece bridge unit is made up of a tune-o-matic bridge and a stoptail bar. `57 Classics are controlled through the standard V controls unit (two volume knobs, one tone and a three-way toggle pickup switch). Mahogany neck is topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays (custom 12th Anniversary inlay on the 12th fret), tektold nut and 12" radius. Grover`s Kidney tuners with 14:1 ratio are featured on the slightly reduced "arrowhead" headstock.
