Finally, after long years of wait, Gibson USA introduces a thoroughbred metal Les Paul. It is a limited run, but who knows if it becomes a standard model in the future. Les Paul CM Black is the name of this black-clad beast. Carved top, minimalistic styling, brand new locking bridge system (yes, a Les Paul with a locking tremolo bridge), super powerful pickups and red details on the headstock guarantee one hell of a ride on this short-scaled devil. Les Paul CM Black kicks off with a solid and single-cut mahogany body and one-piece maple neck. Entire body is made of mahogany, including the carved top. Binding around the edges and pickguard are omitted this time, in favor of a darker, stealthier look. Maple neck rocks a rounded profile in the back and a 22-fret composite fingerboard on top. 1.695" locking nut, medium jumbo frets and side dot markers (no standard inlays) make up the fingerboard. Gibson`s own Dirty Fingers humbuckers deliver enough fire power for this LP to cut through any recording or live mix out there. The most important innovation on this model comes in the shape of a brand new Floyd Rose locking tremolo bridge. It is a top-load system which mounts on four posts which support the regular tune-o-matic bridge with stoptail bar. No additional drilling is required to install this ingenious bridge. Other major features include: Grover Kidney tuners, reduced controls unit (master volume, master tone, 3-way toggle pickup switch) and padded gig bag. The price tag is set at $1,299.
