LPJ model is a brand new creation in Les Paul family of models. It comes for the upcoming 2013 year of the Les Paul and it`s armed with bare necessities of rock. This means that Gibson has opted for stripped down, minimalistic visual approach, while on the other side offers high quality build and tone. Body of this model is made of mahogany back and plain maple top. Back is equipped with strategically distributed weight relief chambers and top is carved and made of two pieces of wood. This is the combination that originally propelled Les Paul models to where they are now. Cherry, Chocolate, Rubbed Vintage Burst and Rubbed White Trans are color options assigned to LPJ. They all come with matte finish. There is no binding around or a pickguard on the top, they don`t fit the stripped-down aesthetics of this LP. Tune-o-matic bridge and stoptail bar comprise the bridge section and they come in chrome plating, contrasting the rest of the hardware, which is painted in black. Pickups on this model are Gibson`s veteran models 490R in the neck and 498T in the bridge position. They are active and each features it`s own set of volume and tone knobs. Three-way toggle pickup switch completes the controls unit. Neck on LPJ is made of maple, very same material top is made of. It`s equipped with a rounded variant of the classic `50s shape. This contour gives enough grip and is substantial, but at the same time it does not slow the left hand down. On the upper side of the neck, a rosewood fingerboard is installed. It comes with 22 medium jumbo frets, figured acrylic trapezoid inlays, 12" radius and 1-11/16" wide corian nut. Tuning machines on the headstock are vintage-styled and painted black. The MSRp for LPJ is set at $1,099 for all four color options.
