Baritone guitar is not a new concept in any way, not even for electric guitars. However, it is a new thing, regarding the commercial success and market presence. Last decade saw a tremendous shift from standard E tuning to C, B, or even A and lower. These super low tunings leave the strings too loose on standard 24-3/4" and 25-1/2" scales. Thus, the manufacturers, including Gibson, are making so much baritone guitars. This Baritone is based on a standard Les Paul Studio. mahogany body is topped with a plain maple top and paired with a set in mahogany neck. Neck is equipped with the slim taper contour in the back and is topped with a 22-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. 496R and 500T open-coil humbuckers are featured on this model.
