Reverse body models started appearing in Gibson`s catalog back in the 1960s. Of them, the Firebird is the only one that really became big and popular, remaining in the Catalog until this very day. Explorer and V have been out of the production for the biggest part of the 1960s and have missed the original reverse-body wave. Today, Gibson makes them with reverse bodies and the Reverse Flying V is a candidate for the oddest model in the entire catalog. Flat and V-shaped body is made of mahogany. It features the design and construction features of the original V. Tune-o-matic bridge/stoptail bar bridge section is fronted with series standard humbuckers. Set in mahogany neck has V contour in the back and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.

The Gibson Reverse Flying V is one of the best guitars I have with exceptional tone and playability. It is light weight and sounds similar to a Flying V and Les Paul combined. Not as heavy as a Les Paul but with a ebony neck that is very fast and has perfect intonation. It took a couple of weeks to get the feel of the body to balance standing up. Instantly easier to play than regular Flying Vs sitting down as it lays down flat across both your knees. You can reach 22 frets to the top with a stretch on the last two frets. Better bass and mid range than most Stats and almost any guitar except the Les Pauls. Plays unplugged very loud and clear. So great for practicing unplugged!
