SG was introduced into the Gibson catalog back in 1961 as a replacement for the declining Les Paul. It was meant to compete against the Fenders on their own turf. Thus, the SG has a double cutaway, flat top body and stripped down design. Over the course of five decades, numerous players demanded an SG with traditional Gibson appointments. SG Carved Top is one of the models which answer those demands. This one comes with a solid, double-cut body made of mahogany base and flamed maple top. Autumn Burst and Ocean Blue Burst with glossy finish are the only color schemes available. Burstbucker Pro pickups are installed in both the bridge and neck positions. Set in neck is made of mahogany and equipped with the rounded contour in the back. 22-fret rosewood fingerboard is on top.
