Semi Acoustic Electric Guitars by Hofner
HVCJS Verythin JS is a double-cut guitar form the Semi Acoustic series made by Hofner. This is a model from the Verythin line of jazz guitars. These models feature thinner bodies and slimmer necks, when compared to the full-sized jazz guitars. They`re oriented towards the modern jazz, rock and fusion performers and enthusiasts who are used to playing solids. Body of the HVCJS Verythin JS model is semi-hollow, double-cut and made of maple back and sides with spruce top. Top is arched, carved and bound in black binding. Also, it features gold-plated hardware. Bridge is fixed and made of ebony. In it`s front, Hofner installs a minibucker pickup with a golden cover. Maple neck on this six-string jazzer is fit with a 22-fret ebony fingerboard.

One of the most versatile guitars I have ever owned. Mine (a very early model) has 'coil splitting' which gives me the option of humbucker or single coil. I can go from dark jazz sounds to country twang with the turn (pull) of the tone knob. (I had mine modified to a push-pull knob in order to maintain tone control while in single coil mode.) Workmanship on this German made guitar is very high. The guitar is also extremely comfortable. A little neck heavy with a strap. But perfect when sitting. My only complaint--and this is just a personal preference--is I wish it had the slightly shorter scale of the Hofner archtops (25 1/4"). This guitar has a full 25 1/2" scale. There also appears to be a lot of variation in neck dimensions on these guitars. Mine has a 1 3/4" nut with a heavy girth. Some Verythins have thinner necks and narrower nut width (typically 1 11/16,). Potential buyers should understand that this variation is the result of the extensive hand work on these guitars. Each guitar is put together by a single craftsman and signed by him upon completion.
