Throughout the history of Ibanez Guitars, few models have had such impact and significance as Artist series guitars. One of the first and still among the most important, Artist series has divided into several sub-lines of LP-inspired guitars. This time around AR line is being updated with two models, of which AR420 is one. It comes with a series` standard double cut body with solid construction. It is made of mahogany back and flamed maple top. Top panel is carved and bound in abalone binding. There is no pickguard featured on this sweet six-stringer. Violin Sunburst is the only color option available and it is finished in satin. Elegant and stylish appearance of this guitar is completed with gold-plated hardware and combination of pearl block inlays with abalone details. Bridge section is made up of three pieces. ART1 bridge sits in the front and is followed by a stoptail bar. Right behind the stoptail bar is trapezoid tailpiece. Super Custom '58 active humbuckers are placed in both the bridge and neck positions. Separate volume and tone knobs are accompanied by a pair of mini-switches used for coil splitting, while the full-sized three-way toggle switch is used for pickup selection. Three-piece neck is made of maple and attached to the body with a set-in joint. Ar contour is in the back and 22-fret rosewood fingerboard on top. Medium-sized frets, pearl/abalone inlays, 12" radius and 1-11/16" wide string nut are featured on the fingerboard. Scale is 24-3/4" long.
