Steve Vai JEM Electric Guitars by Ibanez
JEM-EVO 25th Anniversary is one of the most faithful recreations ever made in the world of electric guitars. It is almost identical replica of Steve Vai`s main road and studio guitar, the legendary EVO. Everything from the actual specs to every scratch, bump and dent is there on this anniversary EVO. Even the crack on the body near the neck joint is there, it`s recreated only cosmetically. Some of the details include wrench holder on the back of the headstock, Steve`s signature on the back of the body in the same exact place where Les Paul signed Steve`s guitar in 1995, Steve`s signature strap locks and pick holder. Body of this model is made of alder, it features double cutaway, flat top and four-bolt joint for the neck. There is no binding or top wood cover. On top of the body Ibanez installs the same pickguard as on original EVO and white-colored JEMs. All of the bruises and wear and tear have been faithfully reproduced on the body. Bridge section features the original Edge double locking tremolo system with cosmo black plating. EVO was chosen among four guitars with same specs, which were delivered to Steve 25 years ago. It was named after the pickup setup Steve chose for it. At that time Steve and DiMarzio were developing Steve`s signature pickup and four variants were made: Knucklehead, Flathead, Evolution and Panhead, all named after Harley Davidson engine types. Steve chose the Evolution and got it installed onto the guitar he liked the most and the EVO was born. This anniversary EVO features the same exact setup including EVO bridge pickup in the bridge, EVO single in the middle and reverse-mounted EVO bridge pickup in the neck position. To match the original, neck pickup`s edges are taped over with pieces of duct tape. Controls unit for this one is made up of master volume, master tone and a five-position blade switch. Neck is bolted to the body with four screws and it`s made of a single piece of maple. This neck is the exact replica of the current neck on Steve`s EVO, which was installed in 1997, after the accident on concert in Melbourne. It features JEM EVO contour and it`s topped with a rosewood fingerboard. 24 Jim Dunlop 6100 frets, Tree of Life inlays, 1.69" wide string nut and 16.90" radius comprise the fingerboard specs. Six in-line tuners are plated in cosmo black to match the bridge and the rest of the hardware. Scale measures 25-1/2" scale and is available only in white, the original color of Steve`s EVO. There will only be 100 copies made for world-wide distribution.
