SS series is a sub-line in the recently formed Artstar segment. It deals, as the rest of the Artstar range, with jazz-oriented electric guitars. This one, in particular, features traditional hollow-bodies. Currently, the initial lineup of this series offers only one model, the sublime SS300. It is a fully hollow single-cut with traditional construction and design. Back and side panels of it`s body are made of flamed maple, while the arched top is made of spruce. Entire body, neck and headstock are painted in gorgeous Dark Violin Sunburst paint with satin finish. Gold-plated hardware and black pickguard stand out and add even more elegance. Traditional two-piece bridge unit is fixed and fit with top-load construction. Passive Super 58 humbuckers with gold-plated covers are installed in the front. These magnificent pickups target the vintage 1950s tone and deliver it with astonishing fidelity. Controls unit installed with them includes two volume knobs, two tone knobs and a three-way pickup selector. Following the hollow-body tradition, maple/spruce body is followed with a rounded mahogany neck with a dovetail joint at the 14th fret. On it`s top, Ibanez installs a bound ebony fingerboard with a regular set of 20 medium-sized frets.
