Six strings are still a standard for both the electric and acoustic guitars. But, that might change with brands like Schecter, Jackson and Ibanez. Schecter`s offensive into the seven and eight-string territory is spawning more and more extended-range axes in the standard section of the catalog every year and they`re getting more and more attention. For decades, standard E was the most widely used tuning and E flat, D and dropped D were reserved for only the most rebellious ones. Since the emergence of death metal in the 1980s and groove metal in the 1990s, limits of a down-tuned six-stringer were quickly reached. As a remedy, guitar manufacturers have started introducing seven-stringed guitars. And, when seven-stringers stopped being enough, eight-stringers were introduced. Banshee 8 Active is a novelty introduced for 2014. It comes with a majority of standard Banshee series features and the standard series design and styling. Solid and double-cut alder body is topped with a flat flamed maple cap and bound with natural binding. Hardtail bridge has eight saddles and is fronted with a pair of EMG 808 pickups (based on the iconic 81). Maple and walnut neck is over 2" wide at the nut and is topped with a 24-fret ebony fingerboard.
