Throughout more than six decades of Stratocaster history, no question was ever as contested as should a Stratocaster ever have a humbucker pickup. Some players thought of it as a blasphemy, while the others had loads of fun with their super-charged six-strings. The first humbuckers were introduced by crafty players who wanted their Strat play and feel, but needed a fatter, heavier tone. This quickly led to the rise of the official HSS, HSH and even HH models. Well into the 21st century, the question of humbuckers is only a matter of preference, like vanilla or chocolate ice cream. Squier`s Standard Fat Strat is a HSS model with agathis body, bolted maple neck, 22-fret fingerboard made of rosewood, 2-point synchronized tremolo bridge and die-cast tuners.
