Applause is a subsidiary brand of Ovation Guitars and, as every subsidiary brand does, it caters to the lower portions of the market than it`s parent company. Ovation catalog is made up of upscale guitars, while the Applause catalog aims at beginners and players who can not afford an Ovation guitar. MAE148 is a mandolin produced by Applause and it comes with a characteristic Ovation/Applause guitar shape with single cutaway construction. It`s back and sides are made of composite materials and the top is made of spruce. The bridge is made of rosewood and it comes with under-saddle piezo crystal pickup, which is combined with a side-mounted preamp. Set maple neck is topped with an ebony fingerboard. It is equipped with 23 frets, dot inlays and 1.12" wide synthetic bone nut.
