AE185 is a semi-hollow acoustic-electric guitar with a Tele-reminiscent body shape. Body of this model is made of mahogany back and sides with a solid spruce top. The top is flat and equipped with one "f" hole. There is a wide palette of optional top wood covers available for this model. In the bridge area Carvin installs a rosewood bridge with belly shape and TUSQ saddle. Pickups department comes with Under-saddle acoustic pickup and a dual humbucker combo on the top. Master volume, tone and a three-way toggle switch are combined with acoustic pickup controls. Neck on this model is made of mahogany and it runs through the entire length of the body. Fingerboard is made of ebony and it comes with 24 medium jumbo frets with dot inlays.
