AXS series is being renewed for 2016 with a quartet of affordable dreadnought guitars and AXS Dreadnought is the most affordable among them. With price tag set somewhat under $200 ($179, to be exact) it aims to conquer the beginner class, along with its AXS brethren. AXS Dreadnought has a simple name and also a simple specs list. It kicks off with a non-cutaway body, full-length scale (25-1/2") and black hardware. Back and sides of the body are made of laminated mahogany, while the top is made of laminated spruce. For now, the only color option available for this low-cost dread is Natural with gloss finish and elegant black hardware. Top is bound with sleek dual-layer binding. Set in mahogany neck is attached at 14th fret and rocks the classic C profile. Fingerboard on its top features 20 frets with simple dot inlays. There are no electronics installed within or on the body of AXS Dreadnought. Rosewood bridge is fixed and is slightly modified to grant this new AXS series visual identity. The headstock is also slightly changed from the previous AXS series incarnation. Die-cast tuners complete the specs list. AXS Dreadnought is perfect for beginners and inexperienced players who need a simple and sturdy instrument to hone their skills on.
