Malibu Special is one of three Malibu models available through the new California series. The other two are Malibu Player and Malibu Classic. The Special variant is the intermediate option, it comes in at $699.99 (same as other two Specials). Malibu Classic costs $799.99, while the Player version will set you back $399.99. Malibu Special offers a solid, non-cutaway Malibu body, glued-in neck w/14th fret dovetail joint, combined Fishman/Fender electronics, and Fender hardware. Like the other two Specials, the Malibu Special is only available in Black (w/gloss finish, chrome hardware, painted headstock.). Other notable features include a solid Sitka spruce soundboard, laminated mahogany back/sides, mahogany neck w/slim taper C profile, 20-fret pau ferro fingerboard, pau ferro bridge, and Fender tuners.
