Fender`s California series is back for 2018, with nine new models and a refreshed, modern styling. Three tiers are available, Classic ($799), Special ($699), and Player ($399), with each having one Redondo, one Newporter, and one Malibu model. Newporter Special is one of three Newporters and it comes with a $699 price tag. Some of the main features include a single-cut body w/all-solid construction, custom-voiced preamp/pickup system developed by Fender & Fishman, a super-slim neck, and Fender hardware. Black is the only available color option (Special is the only tier available exclusively in Black). Other notable features include laminated back/sides, solid Sitka spruce top, mahogany neck w/14th fret dovetail joint & smooth finish, a 20-fret pau ferro fingerboard, pau ferro bridge, and Fender tuning machines.
