The new Redondo Special is a part of the revamped California series, along with eight other models (two more Redondo models, three Newporters, and three Malibus). It belongs to the Special tier, which sells for $699 and offers a fantastic price/quality ratio. Main features include Fender`s original Redondo body, glued-in neck (14th fret joint), Fishman/Fender electronics, and Fender hardware. Like the rest of the Special models, Redondo Special is available only in Black (w/gloss finish, chrome hardware, creme binding, and matching headstock). Other notable features include solid mahogany back & sides, solid Sitka spruce soundboard, solid mahogany neck (slim taper C profile, smooth finish), 20-fret fingerboard made of pau ferro (dot inlays, NuBone string nut), fixed pau ferro bridge, Fishman/Fender pickup & preamp system, and Fender tuners.
