Triple-0 guitars are an old and very well known breed of acoustic guitars. Back in the time before the dreadnought, they were, along with parlor, the standard size. They were popular with blues, country and jazz musicians, alike, but today triple-0s play a marginal role on the market. Much of their today`s popularity stems from the lovers of the vintage guitars and acoustic blues players. However, Fender has decided to include a pair of triple-0s into the new Paramount series, one Deluxe and one Standard model. This article is dedicated to the affordable, yet classy PM-3 Standard Triple-0.
PM-3 Standard is a single-cut guitar with a short scale (24-3/4"), standard 14th fret neck joint and all-solid construction. The body is made of solid mahogany back and sides with a solid spruce sound board on top. The neck is also made of mahogany, it features the modern C profile in the back and a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard on top.
Electronics unit is made up of two main components - a standard piezo pickup under the bone saddle of the bridge and a side-mounted Fender/Fishman PM preamp. The preamp has volume, bass, treble, phase and tuner controls. Compensated rosewood bridge and nickel-plated tuners complete the specs list.
