AEW is a completely new series in the Ibanez catalog. It`s mission is to offer intermediate and upper intermediate acoustics and acoustic-electric guitars with mixed exotic and standard tonewoods. This series was introduced at 2014 NAMM and it`s initial lineup consists of three models. AEW23MV is one of them. Like a vast majority of "exotic wood" acoustics, AEW23MV comes with "mixed" construction. Translated to English, back and sides of the body of this exquisite six-stringer are made of African movingui wood (21 features ovangkol and 22 has cordia back and sides). On the top, there is the standard spruce soundboard. Rosewood binding and movingui/abalone rosette give this steel-stringer very distinguished and classy looks. On the top of the body, this model is fit with a standard rosewood bridge with a Fishman Sonicore pickup and compensated saddle. Side-mounted Ibanez preamp completes the electronics unit. Neck on this model is made of mahogany, as are all the necks in this series. Standard 14th fret dovetail joint is featured in the back, while on top Ibanez installs a 20-fret fingerboard made of rosewood.
