PD-85E is the acoustic-electric variant of the PD-85, and it comes with a non-cutaway body made of solid rosewood back and sides with a solid spruce top. Both the top and back are bound in a mix of maple and abalone binding. The top also features triple-circle abalone rosette and tortoise pickguard. The bridge is made of ebony and it comes with a belly shape. Electronics department features Fishman Ellipse Matrix Blend amplification system. It is controlled through a side-mounted preamp. The neck on this model is made of mahogany and it features a standard C contour. The neck is connected to the body at the 14th frets. Fingerboard matches the bridge and tuners, as it is made of ebony. It comes with 20 frets, abalone snowflake inlays and 1.69" wide bone nut.
