Takamine is one of those manufacturers which can boast their own acoustic gutiar body contours. NEX is Takamine`s and it`s based on the standard grand auditorium. This time it comes with single cutaway design and a bunch of appointments common with the rest of the series. This means that, construction-wise, this model has dovetail joint and scalloped X bracing. Body is made of series` standard combination of tone woods, sapele for back and sides and cedar for the top. Top panel is equipped with several layers of binding and vintage-styled rosette. Top panel is also protected by a black plastic pickguard. Bridge is made of rosewood and it features a two-piece saddle made of bone. String pins are black. Electronics section is a common series` feature, as it includes Palathetic pickup and Takamine`s CT4B II preamp. Preamp is mounted onto the shoulder of the body and sports a three-band equalizer. African mahogany is used for the neck, which sports a series standard back contour. Dovetail joint is set at the 14th fret. On top, this neck sports a rosewood-made fingerboard with 20 frets. White dot position inlays and bone nut complete the fingerboard. Hardware is plated in chrome.
