New 2015 618e is a grand orchestra guitar with non-cutaway design, and standard Taylor construction features. Back and sides are made of maple, while the sound board is made of torrefied spruce. Back and sides feature the super thin "Brown Sugar" finish. Fixed ebony bridge on the top has a micarta saddle, black string pins behind it and Taylor Expression piezo pickup of the second generation, also installed behind the saddle. The pickup is paired with, also second generation, Expression preamp for the best possible amplification results. Combined ebony and abalone binding, striped ebony pickguard and ebony/abalone rosette decorate the torrefied top. Neck is made of mahogany and features a 20-fret ebony fingerboard on the top. TUSQ saddle and wing inlays are featured on the fingerboard. Traditional headstock is equipped with Taylor tuners.
