500 series is a frequent guest in the Limiteds section of the catalog and most often it is offered with blackwood construction. Fall 2014 issue of the Limiteds also features one such series. This time around, Taylor represents five acoustic-electric models within this series. 510e-FLTD, 512ce 12 Fret FLTD, 514ce-FLTD, 516ce-FLTD and 518e-FLTD are their names. Gorgeous blackwood models are offered in Taylor`s super elegant Medium Brown Stain w/Burst color scheme with gloss finish on the body and satin on the neck. 518e-FLTD is the fifth and last model in the series. It comes with a non-cutaway grand orchestra body with 25-1/2" scale and substantial depth and width. Blackwood is used for the back and sides, while the spruce is found on top. Ivoroid binding, tortoise shell pickguard and a simple rosette embellish the sound board. Ebony bridge on the top features the standard shape, micarta saddle and a concealed piezo pickup. Expression 2 preamp is installed on the side, facing the player. Tropical mahogany neck is the brand-wide standard feature and it is found on this model, as well. It comes with a standard contour in the back and a regular 20-fret ebony fingerboard on top.
