Australian Blackwood is a close relative of the Hawaiian koa, delivering very similar tone. Some of the physical resemblance also exists, but these two don`t look too much alike. Due to being a little less attractive, blackwood is significantly more affordable than it`s Hawaiian relative. In addition to the dry, clear and warm mid range of koa, blackwood adds a sparkle to the high notes, while retaining very well defined low end. In combination with spruce, it gives a very versatile tone, available for exploitation in numerous genres and styles. 516ce-FLTD is one of five Blackwood series models, being the only GS model on the roster. It comes with a single-cut body made of blackwood back and sides and a spruce sound board on top. Burst color scheme with glossy finish adds a great deal of elegance to all of the models in this series, including the medium-sized 516. Standard ebony bridge is fixed on the top and it features a micarta saddle with a piezo pickup beneath it. Preamp is installed onto the side of the body (Taylor`s Expression 2 system is installed). Mahogany neck is attached at the 14th fret and is topped with a standard 20-fret ebony fingerboard.
