800 series is advertised as Taylor`s flagship acoustic-electric line, made up of the finest guitars Taylor has to offer, topped only by the boutique-level 900 series. 800 models start at $3,399, though with the Brazilian rosewood upgrade ($6,000) 800 models can reach the five-figures with ease. 858e is one of only two active 800 series` grand orchestra models. It is a 12-stringer with the starting price set at $3,499. Main features include an all-solid body (Indian rosewood back/sides, Sitka spruce top, maple binding, ebony pickguard), a mahogany neck (Taylor profile, 14th fret dovetail joint), a 20-fret ebony fingerboard (Element inlays, 1.875" Tusq nut, 25.5" scale), an ebony bridge (micarta saddle, Taylor contour), ES2 electronics, and Taylor tuners. Natural is the only offered color option.
