Academy series is one of the latest and biggest additions to the Taylor catalog. The aim and the mission of this series is to offer the younger players and the beginners a quality guitar to start on. The current lineup has three models, with price tags being uniformly set at $649 for all three models (10e, 12e, 12e-N). Academy 12e is a grand concert steel-stringer with a beveled top, regular 14th fret dovetail neck joint, 24-7/8" scale, stock Taylor electronics, and understated styling. Taylor sells this one only in Natural w/varnish finish. Specs list highlights include laminated sapele back/sides, Sitka spruce soundboard (w/Baltic birch rosette), a mahogany neck, a 20-fret African ebony fingerboard, a standard Taylor bridge, ES-B pickup/preamp system, and Taylor tuners.
