Pioneer is Avalon`s most popular, as well as most affordable series. It deals with traditionally styled acoustic steel-stringers. Pioneers feature simple construction, solid tonewoods, gold-plated hardware and no electronics. $4,590 is the common basic price, shared by all four models. Pioneer 1-20 is one of the four models which make up the current lineup. It is the only one with cutaway (traditional, Venetian). Back and sides are made of rosewood (east Indian), while the top is made of cedar. Pear wood binding and abalone rosette grace the body. The neck is made of mahogany and it`s attached at the 14th fret. 20-fret ebony fingerboard sits on its top. Other major features include a 1.73" string nut, gold-plated tuners and Avalon AXE bracing pattern.
