CN-90 is one of five nylon-stringed models Fender introduced for 2013. It belongs to the Classical series and is the successor of the previous CN-90 variant. Classical series offers only affordable classical guitars. There are both fully acoustic and acoustic-electric models, as well as the non-cutaway and single-cutaway variants. CN-90 belongs to the fully acoustic ones and it has no electronics installed. Body of this basic classical model is made of laminated mahogany back and sides with laminated spruce sound board. Mahogany and spruce are the most common tonewoods used for the body construction in acoustics section of the market. Cedar, rosewood and maple are as equally as important, but mahogany and spruce sort of dominate the scene for their quality, affordability and tone they give when combined. Body is bound in several layers of binding and decorated with a traditional rosette. Bridge is made of rosewood and it features a NuBone saddle. There are no pickups, mics and preamps installed on this model. Neck is made of mahogany and it features a 12th fret dovetail joint. On it`s top, Fender installs a 19-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. Classical-sized frets, 1-13/16" string nut and flat radius complete the fingerboard.
